Improving water resilience and security

Across North-West Europe, water management is becoming an increasingly critical task. Ensuring the sustainable use and reuse of water resources is essential as pressure on water availability grows. In parallel, many regions must also cope with worsening extremes, from prolonged droughts to more frequent and severe floods.

NWE projects tackle these challenges by restoring peatlands, exploring new possibilities for water purification, preventing water pollution through pharmaceuticals and by improving water cycles in cities and soil quality in agriculture. Our projects also work on nature-based solutions and sediment management to make river systems become more climate resilient. They improve local and regional capacities to better predict and handle extreme weather events such as flashfloods and muddy floods. Explore their impact below!
